A release date for Driveclub has finally been confirmed by Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida, and it will be coming to PS4 on October 8th in Europe, 1oth in the UK, and the 7th in North America almost a year after it was supposed to debut on the PS4. The trailer looks really nice, and in line to what we’ve seen from the other gameplay trailers that have been released before. Paul Rustchynsky was also confirmed as Driveclub’s Game Director, and was previously director of Motorstorm RC, as well as having experience on all Evolution Studios’ titles since 2004.
Shuhei Yoshida said about the new release date:
“We planned for the game to be ready for early 2014 and are committed to delivering on our ambitious promise of creating a truly innovative, socially connected racing game. The problem with being ambitious is you have to be prepared to accept there will be challenges along the way. What DRIVECLUB offers has not been previously achieved in this category and because of this, the team needed more time to give you the game you’re waiting for.”
More information will be coming tomorrow about what we can expect from Driveclub, and possibly what caused it to be pushed back. There’s no confirmation as to whether it will still be a Plus title, but given all the publicity about it that shouldn’t change, hopefully. What do you think of the date?
Update: Sony has confirmed that Driveclub Plus Edition will be coming at the same time in October.

Looks good. Forza 5 had me for a bit but got bored of doing the 10 Championships every time I wanted to start a new race class. So I hope DC does take note this.

Pretty much a year delay in total then. Not good.
Looks like I might be making a return to my ps3 for my racing fix then, with GRID Autosport.

Fantastic, it is looking great in that brief snippet. I’d much rather this release date than PS4 launch. Can you imagine how buggy it would be?!

Loving Yoshida’s face in the trailer!

Project CARS instead for me! Needed to release much sooner. Summer will be taken up with GRID:AS…

Pretty shocking to be honest, a real missed opportunity but as others have implied better the full kit than a half arsed patch dependant mess like a British troops tackle bag!
I do wonder if Gran Turismo might throw an ace into the pot with a “quick to develop on the new gen architecture” and contemplate releasing a GT7 next gen in the meantime!

That’s a bit later than i expected but i can’t really complain about something i’ll be getting for free, especially when it looks so stunning.

Does any1 care about Drive Club anymore ?
It would have been a must buy launch title, but with Project Cars & The Crew releasing around the same time, why would any1 buy a racing title that isnt going to deliver what the others will? PS+ is going to “save” this game, but it WONT last.

A bit disappointed in the release date, but at least we now have a date to look forward to. It’ll also give me a chance to make a dent in my PS3 backlog.
