Earlier this week a new release date and trailer were unveiled by Sony and Evolution for Driveclub, giving us the news that the racer will be launching in October. Now a high quality version of that trailer, along with some screens, have appeared online.Without the Youtube compression this trailer just looks even more incredible, and appears almost lifelike. The screenshots are from the trailer so you can analyse them more.
I mean if you glanced at these quickly you’d be forgiven for mistaking the images as photos from reality, that is until you looked at the crowd in the background of some. Those people look computer generated, but the cars and the rest of the environment are incredibly detailed.
The download link to the HQ version of the trailer is here. You’ll have to extract it before watching it, but it is worth it.

The 4th and 10th pictures look good, but apart from that, this game looks lacklustre.
I saw Project Cars on PS blog the other day and that’s what made the next generation jump out at me for the first time. The photorealism is truly mind-blowing, and represents that all significant jump from PS3 to PS4. Not to mention that Project Cars seems to have more racing pedigree to it.

Well put mate, Drive Club is facing some tough competition now. I haven’t looked at the trailer yet but it’ll need to be something special to match up to the Project Cars Leguna Seca video from a few days ago.
Erroneus
Project Cars do look lovely, but I fear it’s to much of a simulator like Gran Turismo, which for many, is not what they want from a car game.
Personally I’m hoping Driveclub hits that sweet spot between realism and fun, like Forza has been able too.
I’ve tried Driveclub last year and it felt right, so I have high hopes they have used the extra year of development to make it something really really good.

I agree with Erroneus I’d much prefer it to be more on the arcade side of things,I often try the Gran Turismo games and think wow that looks nice but quickly get bored, especially in the begging races where it feels like your going 10mph everywhere and having to slow down to 5 for the corners, don’t get me wrong I more than likely will get Project Cars an give it a whirl but I’m looking much more forward to The Crew over and DriveClub, what I’d really like though is a new Motorstorm love those games.

Oh and roll on Mario Kart 8 now there’s a good arcade racer ;)

The Crew may actually end up being a really good game, too.

It’s a free game so end of the day it doesn’t really matter does it? That Ariel ATOM looks lovely

I would rather see actual gameplay, compared to engine cinematics.
