The first day of this year’s F1 pre-season testing begins tomorrow, and so naturally I’m dancing around like there’s ants in my pants! This week saw the unveiling of several cars, all of them with subtle differences to conform to the new regulations this year. I’m really hoping that in particular McLaren have a decent car (and engine), and can bring the fight to the Mercedes, who will no doubt be strong contenders again this year.
Well, enough of me chatting about Formula 1, let’s focus on gaming now as we begin this week’s Community Round-Up!
This week on the meets, there will probably be the usual GT6 on Monday and Battlefield on Friday. I’ve also created a Battlefield Hardline Beta meet on Wednesday night if anyone wants to join me on PS3.
If you’d rather play something else, you can add your own Meet to the list, provided you have more than 250 TSA Points.
We had quite a few good scores with the reviews this week, so let’s begin with those. Grim Fandango Remastered does justice to the 17 year old original, with laugh out loud moments and challenging puzzles, making the title worthy of an 8/10 in Aran’s review. Meanwhile, Tuffcub also gives an 8/10 to Baboon!, a game he describes as being “annoyingly addictive”.
Dom called Unmechanical: Extended a title with “beautiful aesthetic and meaningful sound design”, however with some overly tricky puzzles, the Xbox One download was worthy of a 7/10. Jim rounded off with the last two reviews of the week, the first of which was a look at Assassin’s Creed Unity: Dead Kings DLC, and the second was a look at the gorgeous Shadowmatic for iOS in Mobile Watch.
On the previews front, Stefan first had a look at two upcoming strategy games; Battlefleet Gothic: Armada and Act of Aggression. The former as a spin off from the Games Workshop universe, while the later is something fans of Command & Conquer should certainly have a look at. Finally, he took a glance at Project CARS, which is a sim racer that many PS4 owners are dying to get their hands on.
From the Blogs, Jim looked at a long awaited return to World of Warcraft with Warlords of Draenor, and also explained why Dying Light (which you can see footage of here and here as Stefan and Bunimomike streamed it) is a great cure for those having withdrawal symptoms from Dead Island.
Meanwhile with the Community articles, last week’s Chronicle focused on Windows 10, HoloLens and Halo, while the WeView Verdict for Surgeon Simulator was tied between buying it and waiting for it to come to Plus. PES 2015 will be the next title for you to comment on, and will be appearing next week.
To end off the Round Up, let’s take a trip to the Forums:
- Dying Light is the topic of Dazbobaby’s thread.
- There’s been some good updates to the regular threads, such as TSBonyman’s Driveclub pics,
- And some milestones were hit in the Trophy Banter thread, with Youles reaching 5,000 trophies and Del grabbing his 250th Platinum! Perhaps you’ve got an achievement or two to add there before tomorrow’s Chronicle?
Let me know if you’ve got any plans for the weekend, I’m hoping to sink some time into AC: Black Flag, and of course stay up to date with the F1! So until next time, bye!
