Wolfenstein: The Old Blood Announced, Is A Stand Alone Prequel

Bethesda have announced Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, a standalone prequel to last year’s Wolfenstein: The New Order.

Set in an alternate timeline version of 1946 where Nazis are on the brink of winning World War II, series hero B.J. Blazkowicz embarks on two missions deep within Bavaria. During first part of his mission, titled Rudi Jäger and the Den of Wolves, you will fight a maniacal prison warden in Castle Wolfenstein. Part two – The Dark Secrets of Helga Von Schabbs – moves to the city of Wulfburg where an obsessed Nazi archaeologist is exhuming mysterious artefacts that threaten to unleash a dark and ancient power. Eep!

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood will be available digitally and in retail for £14.99 / €19.99 / AUD$39.95 from May 5, 2015 for the PS4 and PC, whilst for some reason the Xbox One only gets a digital release. PS3 and Xbox 360 owners are left out this time, even though they got the original game.

  1. Ooh looking forward to this, New Order is one of the best FPS around for next(current?)-gen.

  2. Woo and Yay and Woo again.

  3. Great. Brilliant games.

  4. Still to play through New Order, and I’ll highly likely add this one to the in-tray.

  5. Loved New Order was the most fun FPS i have probably ever played!
But am I reading that wrong or is it really only 2 missions for £14.99? They will need to be 2 very, VERY good missions to justify that price. But again I might be reading that wrong …

    • As in he has two distinct objectives to complete whilst in Bavaria. It’s a mission in the military sense of the word rather than a video game mission or level.

      At least, that’s my understanding.

  6. Awesome, loved The New Order, will pick this up straight away! I’m rather hoping this well sell as well as the main game and they feel they simply HAVE to make a proper sequel straight away.

  7. £15.99 for 2 missions! I’ll give this a miss!

  8. This looks ace, I’m in.

  9. I never played New Order as I never have been too keen on the ‘old school’ type FPS games with no cover etc but I may give this a whirl. If I enjoy it, I’ll pick up New Order.
Now I’ve got Blue Monday in my head… even better, True Faith.
