Private Lobbies Will Be Available In Driveclub Next Week

Evolution’s Paul Rustchynsky has announced that one of Driveclub’s most wanted features, private lobbies, will be part of an update rolling out for the game next week. The update will also feature things like accolades and braking assist options too. Until then there will be twice as much Fame available for Lamborghini drivers, so you can race through the ranks faster.

Earlier this week Driveclub Bikes was announced and released, with two options for purchase. If you already own Drivclub then Bikes can be bought as an expansion for £11.99. Driveclub Bikes is also available as a standalone title for £15.99.

  1. Fantastic, may have to try this on a Monday Evening Meet!

    • Sounds good Tom, I’ll try to make it this week!
I’m loving the bikes so far, they’re making me question why I was so excited by Ride!
Like the cars in DriveClub the bikes strike a good balance between arcade sensibilities with a solid simulation model underneath.
I’m excited to see if Evolution will continue adding to the game and with the bikes add on I’m optimistic that they will.

  2. Great. Another update with all the problems that causes when you’re low on space.

It’ll be a couple of hundred meg and need 20+ gig of space to install it again.

    (It’s not just Driveclub either)

    • erm, you can get the physical version?

      • Still needs the space.

      • Yep, unfortunately there isn’t any space saving usually by opting for the physical disc version as the data install includes the whole content of the disk!

      • I updated my HDD to 2 TB last year and I still have to keep an eye on space!
The only benefit of having games on discs is you can install them again quicker rather than relying on PSN’s spotty download speeds.

      • Yes, a physical copy would still need space to install the whole game and the updates. And every update would need far more space than necessary.

The updates for Driveclub are now up to about 12GB. Even if they’re all installed already, you still need space to install all 12GB of updates every time. The last update was around 1.5GB, and it still needed at least 12GB of free space. Possibly even twice that. It wouldn’t do it with about 20GB free.

The whole update system for the PS4 is broken, really. Even with the PS3, where downloads definitely need twice as much space (at least temporarily), you only need space for the latest updates you haven’t got installed. It doesn’t think you need space to install all the updates you already installed.

At least the PSN download speeds are being good lately. Easily getting 20Mbps out of it over WiFi (which is probably as much as you can hope for, and almost as much as my internet can do anyway)

    • Yep, the 1.24 update is causing issues again. 30GB+ free space is apparently not enough room for it. I’ve tweeted them in the hope I can aim a sarcastic rant directly at them. Which will be fun ;)

  3. Great news indeed!

  4. Some of those 3* laptimes are pinpoint, not sure that braking assist would allow a user to attain top tier, with it’s inevitable early apex braking point. Could be wrong though!

    • Those laptimes are Brutal! Only thing stopping me getting full stars on a few of the levels/tracks.
