Something For The Weekend – 29/07/17

Fans and drivers alike have been divided by the news of the halo being introduced in F1 next year, but the discussions are sure to be put on hold as all eyes are on Hamilton and Vettel this weekend. With only 1 point between them, who do you think will go into the summer break with the championship lead?

In the News This Week

Games in Review

It was a busy week for the reviews, with quite a few scoring well too!

This Week’s Features

Starting with the previews, and one of Playstation’s biggest franchises, Uncharted Lost Legacy is shaping up to be quite the encore for the series as Stefan explains. He also interviewed Creative Director Shaun Escayg and Communications Director Arne Meyer about the game, and how they are making it the best Uncharted we’ve seen.

Our other interview this week was with the developer of UnboxAndrew Bennison, who spoke of the perils of being an indie developer.

Moving on, Stefan then kicked some Nazi butt in Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, with MachineGames building everything to be bigger and better, as you can see below.

Racing fans have a lot to look forward to this year, with Project Cars 2 being one of the highlights. Stefan took a look at how the career mode has been improved to allow you more control over how you progress through the game.

Elsewhere, Dom tried out Fortnite from Epic Games, as Dave spent some time with Dr. Kawashima’s Devilish Brain Training and found that his concentration is improving, even with only a week spent on the mind games.

Jim shared his thoughts on what he wants to see from For Honor Season 3, which was followed by Ubisoft’s announcement of what’s actually happening here. The headline is of course the addition of dedicated servers alongside two new maps and two new heroes, so Jim should be happy!

Finally, as always, we have What We Played, which featured Splatoon 2, Sundered and Lost Legacy.

Jake platinumed Crash Bandicoot 2 and 3 from the N-Sane Trilogy this week, which seems to be it for the trophy hunters.

  • MrYd unlocked the award for “don’t buy anything in this week’s PSN sale”.
  • Andrewww this week has watched Event Horizon, Babylon A.D., and John Wick.
  • Ron_mcphatty is beside himself now that Love Island has finished, so to take his mind off it he’s bought himself a Nintendo Switch!
  • Steelhead has been writing notes that rival War and Peace in length just to help get the FF XII platinum.

The Week Ahead

Even with August just around the corner, this week is looking awfully quiet!

  • Dino Frontier  – PSVR – 01/08
  • The Long Dark – PS4, XBO, PC – 01/08

Well that’s it for this edition, see you again soon!

  1. Maybe give my little post on the forum a read and have a little donation if possible

Also final grand Prix before the summer break this weekend and then I start getting ready to go to Belgium for the return. Can’t wait. My first grand Prix gotta make it the best one of the year.

  2. The phenomenon that is Love Island (basically a daily dose of News Snatch with more boobs and less games) has to be seen to be believed! And now that well into my thirties I’m perfectly happy to lower my standards.
The Switch is great!! Mario Kart is absolutely perfect, I’ve not played it since the GameCube so it’s a nice break from the arcadey racers ive enjoyed recently. Zelda is probably the most impressive game of the year, I would’ve said that about Horizon before but to see such a massive, beautiful and lively world on a tablet is something else. Cant wait for Sonic now!

    • Zelda is superb. Wait until you dig in, you’ll begin to find the most charming of nuances in the gameplay, from surviving the cold to using leaves to create wind to power rafts.

      • I’ve just roasted some chillis in order to survive a climb up a mountain. I read next to nothing about the game before starting so finding out what’s possible is proving a lot of fun. It’s a beautifully made game, so far the limited dialogue, presentation and music remind me of a Ghibli film, which is no bad thing!
