The Abandoned real time trailer app fails to launch on time

The much hyped real time trailer app for PS5 exclusive Abandoned has failed to launch on time due to a technical hitch. Or, if you believe others, it’s just another way building hype for the surprise reveal of a Silent Hill game featuring Sold Snake.

“Are you ready?” tweeted Blue Box Game Studio.

Yes, we were, but Blue Box Game Studios were not. “There is a technical issue with the delivery of the patch. We are working to get this live ASAP. We apologize for the inconvenience,” they tweeted a few hours later.

At present the app is still not working. It is meant to give players an taste of the game engine on which Abandoned is built, and features ray tracing and impressive graphics.

Even when it does get working the app won’t be playing the trailer, it’s going to allow you to see an “introduction” with the trailer itself launching later in the month. Why you need an introduction to a trailer remains to be seen, it’s a very odd way of marketing a game, one we have never seen before and one that continues to fuel conspiracies.

The shenanigans around the game have sent conspiracy theorist wild with suggestions that Blue Box, a studio that basically appeared out nowhere and managed to bag tonnes of promotion from Sony, is actually a cover for Hideo Kojima’s new version of Silent Hill.  Blue box have categorically denied this.

As for Silent Hill the rumour mill has not stopped spinning. It was revealed earlier this week that Konami have entered a strategic partnership with Bloober Team who will likely be working on the next game in the series. Bloober Team have aligned themselves as a horror focused studio, having developed Layers of Fear, The Medium, Layers of Fear 2, and Blair Witch.

  1. I believe….

  2. I think someone needs to compile a summary of the promotion of this game.

To my memory, there was an announcement of an announcement, then it was announced that the would be a trailer app, then a tease for the trailer app, then a pre-load announcement of the trailer app, then the failed launch of the trailer app, then the actual launch, then an announcement that there would be an introduction to the trailer on the app, and then this introduction currently isn’t working.

    Effing crazy.

  3. Tomorrow is the anniversary of PT’s release…

    I want to believe…
