Whilst non-dedicated retailers struggle to find space on their shelves for anything that isn’t by Activision, the smaller, more esoteric titles always appear to suffer. The latest casualty: Southpeak’s 3D Dot Game Heroes, a brilliant title that absolutely deserves your attention.
However, it’s not there. Between us we’ve tried Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons – across the UK – and couldn’t see the game anywhere. Sure, it’s going to sit in your local copy of GAME and, of course, you can buy it online no probs, but if you’re not in a specialist shop it looks like it isn’t doing too well.
Industry mag MCV does list the game on its headline story post for the week’s releases, but appears to prefer the recommendation of rather more ‘safe’ purchases such as Skate 3 and Lost Planet 2, meaning buyers for the supermarket chains probably don’t even know about the game.
Our advice: don’t let this one pass you by – the next time you’re out buying bags of pre-washed spinach make sure you pop next door to GAME afterwards.
