Sony has sent over the first details on The Unfinished Swan, albeit a day or two after most of it was already uncovered. Regardless, the screens below are lovely, and go some way to illustrate what Giant Sparrow are trying to do.
“The Unfinished Swan is a first-person painting game that begins in a totally white space,” says the official press release.
“You throw globs of paint to explore the world around you. In the game, you’re a boy named Monroe who’s chasing after a swan. The swan stepped out of a painting and has wandered off into a surreal, unfinished world…”

Looks really nice but some of the shots remind me too much of the swamp area in Demon’s Souls. Goddammit, I hate that place!
haha! I agree that place was horrible :P this game is looking lovely though :)
Nom noms.
Looks really unique. Colour me interested.
Definitely a great game for move owners.
Nice pics, the monochrome look is just as effective as fully rendered/textured environments, perhaps even more so.
The more I see of this the more interested I am, but I am worried that it’ll have a very low retention level. “Ooh paint spatters! Spattered paint! Some paint…” *gets bored and wanders off*
I just hope what ever plot they have going on make it worth it. Then again, I’ll probably buy it anyway because I have a move…
Yeah I hope it doesn’t get boring or something.
I’ve just watched an interview where it was revealed that the painting mechanic is only for the first 15 mins and then it takes a left turn to something different, with different art style, and they keep changing it to keep the experience fresh as you progess… now i’m even more intrigued!
The story and puzzles will be key
A world where you don’t know what’s around the corner or even if there is a corner until you paint it has the potential to be very tense, sound will also play a key part as what your paintballs hit, like water for example makes different sounds.
Can’t wait, looks great.
Hang on… What’s going on in the last pic?? I thought it was supposed to be ‘The Unfinished Swan’, not ‘The Chicken With The Yellow Legs’!
Part of the puzzles, I presume
This looks really interesting.
Don’t even understand but I’m getting this game :D
