Community Round-Up: 13/08/11

Gather round, my little lambs. As with the last two weeks, this is a round up of all the diamonds in the rough that have been on TSA in the last week. From competitions to forum threads, I’ve looked at everything, and this is what I want to highlight.

Before we carry on, though, a shout to Kennykazey. Last week he was the only person to suggest a colour for my hexagons and he must be psychic, since we’re now back to the rather orange Battlefield 3 theme for TSA. I couldn’t have planned it better myself!

TSA’s been trying to help us nerds dress all sorts of cool for years now, on and off. Some of you may have bought those awesome T-shirts proudly displaying the TSA logo a while back, but now Tuffcub has launched TSA’s Gaming Fashion Guide.

In it he rates several choice items of gaming apparel, from thongs to caps, before revealing a competition to win a Deus Ex: Human Revolution T-shirt. Just leave a comment before midnight tomorrow, and you’ll go into the draw!

This time last week, we also had a rather fantastic competition to win a Xbox 360 and Kinect combo. A little bit of investigative journalism later, where I just asked Cb, and I can reveal the winner to be [REDACTED].

Only kidding. It’s no big secret that the congratulations are in order for LFC-Gaz! The bundle is already winging its way to him, so he can bounce around the room to Dance Central in good order. Hopefully we can get some videos of this from him.

Elsewhere, the Dirt 3 Tournament is ticking over nicely. We’re wrapping up the second week of racing tomorrow evening, and then we’ll be on to the Quarter-Finals. The full results will go up on Monday, but you can hop over into the forum thread to see the results that have been posted so far.

This week’s featured meet is rather covert. It’s not on the list of games available to choose from, but that doesn’t stop people setting up meets for Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars. It’s been quite a regular little thing, since the game was put on PS+, and I’ll be attending for the first time. So just have to sign up for “Assassin’s Creed” on Sunday evening.

Mortal Kombat would also like some love and attention. Crazy_Del set it up, and at the time of writing there’s two others on the roster for Tuesday night. However, the more the merrier, as there’s some trophies in the offing.

Speaking of trophies, Crazy_Del also leads the charge with boosting some of the more aggravating online trophies with people. For example, F1 2010 takes a rather huge amount of XP to get to level 50 online, and Del’s figured out a rather streamlined way of boosting. It’s actually rather fun, if you’re happy to muck about a little too, but keep boosting as the final goal. The thread that discusses it is here.

If there’s any other games you want trophy based help with, just pop into the dedicated boosting thread and say hello.

Have you just got your grubby fingers on the Resistance 3 beta demo online bonanza? Then pop into this thread to find a few buddies to play with. I’m downloading it tonight, and look forward to seeing some TSA faces on the battlefield.

I’m barely scratching the surface, though. There’s too many meets to actually take part in, so just have a nose around, and sign up for whatever takes your fancy.

As with every other week, Kris has asked for you all to submit your very own mini-reviews of a game. This time round it’s the critically acclaimed Borderlands, the sequel to which was also recently leaked, slapped down brutally, then announced the very next day! Scandalous!

Get your reviews in here before the end of Sunday, so your opinion can be counted in the verdict on Monday.

This week also saw TSA nominated a Games Media Awards, under the category for Best Website. Nothing you can do about it now, as it’s into the hands of the judges to decide who wins the overall award. Just play it like an OFSTED inspection and behave when the inspector’s in the room, OK?

We like a bit of discussion here. So whilst the chatter might have died down, it’s quite interesting to visit a topic from a few days ago, and see what people think. For example, there’s the ongoing Battlefield 3 requiring Origin on PC saga. Don’t you want to wade in there and share your opinion on the matter?

Last week, we unfortunately had to remove two threads that were causing a bit of trouble for people. They were the De-motivational Posters thread and the ironically titled “Crawfail can’t get on TSA”, from General Chat*. Funnily enough, I’d actually included both of them in my list of highlights!

So, where would be more fitting to start the highlights with the replacement De-motivational Posters thread? Tune in for lots of silly photos and their humourous captions.

Along the same line, DrNate dug up a rather crazy reaction video to the recent developments of Diablo 3. Always online DRM, so you can’t play on the plane, and the micro-transactions of the auction house have got some people rather riled up, it seems.

If you’re not angry at Blizzovision, then perhaps you’ve an opinion on the Driver demo that came out this week? I’ve not had a chance to play it, but by the sound of things the handling wasn’t up to much.

Finally, the new English Premier League season is upon us. Its literally just a few hours away, which means that if you want to take part in TSA’s own Fantasy Football League, then you’ll want to get your team picked, transfers made, and wild card special events drawn.

That last bit might have been made up, since I honestly have no idea how any of this works. Although, wouldn’t triggering a torrential downpour on your opponents goalkeeper be kind of cool?

That’s all I’ve got for this week, and I’ll be back here at the same time next week. Until then just keep refreshing TSA every 5 minutes**, so you don’t miss out on a single thing!

*Just a reminder that the TSA General Chat is viewable only to signed in members of the site, and may contain strong language and (im)mature themes. Sounds like a cracking place, right?
**Actually, don’t. Otherwise Alex and Peter might have to ask us to stop visiting TSA, again.

  1. Well done to LFC_gaz! Ive just come back from my holiday so this is a great round up for me. Just started playing the R3 beta and i love it!

  2. Why have i been forced to polish everything in TSA towers? It’s very hard when Dan and Blair keep throwing their drinks on the floor and walls. >:(

I found out who who from Blair yesterday but i think i would have been sent to TSA hell if i had leaked it. So congratulations LFC-Gaz, i think Blair and co will demand that you play Forza tag with them. ;)

Again, Congratulations TSA on getting nominated although i am still shocked to see the Daily Star and Mail on the nomination list.:o Dan Lee should have been nominated for best writer/madman/supervillain.

I thought that it was a rule to F5 the front page every 5minutes. :p Although beware of the perverts and the resident nutter when you are in the forums, they bite…hard. ;-)

    • For the record, I turned down Steven’s Polishing service…

      • When i find the person responible for order me at gunpoint to polish everything. I swear, i will make them pay! >:(

  3. really like these community round ups…. i always find new stuff that i havn’t seen=)
