Community Round-Up: 10/09/11

It’s that time of the week again, so gather round for this week’s Community Round-Up!

I’d like to begin by thanking those of you that said these Roundup’s have really improved since I took over – it was a great ego boost and it’s something I can regularly point out to Teflon! [Who will then burp in your general direction whenever you do. – Tef]

Remember last week when I said we’ve got two awesome competitions coming up? We had 5 copies of Bodycount and another 5 copies of Dead Island – you can’t say we don’t love you here at TSA! I hope you entered both of them because they closed last night at 9pm!

We’ll be announcing the winners at some point today, although it has taken us a while to go through all the entries, since we had over 350 comments on both of the articles! Don’t worry though, we’ll get the games out to the winners as soon as we can, so you can be fighting for the Network or massacring Zombies before you know it. I’m currently really enjoying Dead Island, so if any of you fancy a co-op game don’t hesitate to add me!

You can also catch up on the final article from the Dirt 3 Tournament, which saw Maneorix taking on and besting Spooferbarnabas in the finals. Congratulations to him, for some blisteringly fast driving throughout the competition, he’s a thoroughly deserving champion!

Both of them won Dirt 3 mugs, as did the 3rd and 4th placed men CarBoyCam and Manorhowze. The prizes didn’t stop there, and Ro6afc11 and Freezebug were drawn out of the digital hat to win the final two cups. They should all have got in touch with JamboGT by now to arrange their delivery, so soon they’ll be able to kick back and watch some rallying on the telly whilst sipping some tea or coffee from their mugs.

This week on TSA looks to be jam-packed with Meets, so let’s take a closer look:

There’s three meets scheduled for tonight, so first up at 5pm is the ‘Whatever is On’ Beta Meet, this time featuring Assassins Creed: Revelations hosted by Death_in_Flamez. The Beta was initially exclusive to uPlay and PS+ members but it’s now been opened up to everyone and I’d recommend everyone tries it out, especially if you haven’t played any of the Assassins Creed MP before – it’s truly unique. At 7pm, there’s the regular Uncharted 2 meet hosted by Bodachi, and then sanmartinez is hosting the weekly Bioshock 2 meet at 8pm.

Sunday sees the continuing DiRT 3 meet, which is actually now full. Manorhowze kicks off the racing at 4pm so if you’re looking to pounce on a space, like parking on a busy day at a shopping complex, that’s the time to get there. SARPBC’s Meet is now being disguised as Skate 3, with Death_in_Flamez hosting that one at 7pm.

Further on in the week there’s Monday’s Motorstorm Madness taking place at 8pm on (funnily enough) Monday! And you better be F5’ing TSA on Wednesday so you can start downloading the new (and free!) DLC for Red Dead Redemption as soon as it arrives on the store because the meet starts at 7pm.

Take a look at the TSA Meets page to check out the other meets that take your fancy, or feel free to host your own meet, provided you have at least 250 of those shiny TSA points.

Hanny's Game!

It’s been a busy week on TSA article wise, so let’s begin:

Kicking off the plethora of reviews, we have Peter’s review of Driver: San Francisco, and like Al has previously said – the Shift feature really works well with the game.

Resistance 3 has just been released, and Al has reviewed it here. If you feel like getting stuck in with some great plot driven action, topped off with Move, Sharpshooter and 3D support, Resistance 3 is not to be missed. Well, once you’ve patched it anyway.

Al’s also reviewed the Ico and Shadow Of The Colossus: HD Classics. While there aren’t any new features, and the graphics aren’t top-notch, but it’s great to see what Al describes as “two of the most refined games on the PS2” getting the HD and 3D treatment.

On the theme of reviews, Kris is taking us back to the beginning of last year with this week’s WeView feature, asking us to put in a few words for MAG. It’s Massive, it features Action, and just so happens to be a Game. The forum thread can be found here.

When Capcom invited TSA for a session with Dead Rising 2: Off The Record’s Executive Producer, Jason Leigh, we sent Jim along to see what the fuss was all about. Rather than being DLC, Off the Record is a re-imagining of Dead Rising 2 and is set for a release on 14th October.

You can catch up with Greg’s is also back with ‘What We Played’, or read Kris’s Hands On with Burnout Crash! which apparently involves lots of crashes unsurprisingly.

Also, we’d love it if you took a look at Hanny’s PC game, which she and some classmates created in under 5 months. The game has submitted it to the Dutch Game Awards as a candidate for Best Student Game, and it would be great to see your support for one of TSA’s nicest community members.

The Forums have livened up again this week, so let’s dig in shall we? But be warned, General Chat is off limits to non-members, it is also un-moderated and not for the faint hearted.

  • First up, The Penguin asks which PS2 titles would you like to see getting the HD treatment. It’s a question asked quite often in the forums but I find every time it comes up, someone mentions a gem that you’d forgotten all about!
  • Tonycawley wants to know which game features the most fun gunplay? He’s been playing Bulletstorm and, by the sound of it, is loving it. For me, I just love the fast-paced action of MW2, so that would be my choice, but let us know what your favourite is here.
  • Spoofer is whinging that our national anthem is too dull, and so wants to know what song would you use? For some reason, I can’t imagine the England squad lining up to listen to Rick Astley’s ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’, although I’d love to see Queen’s ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ echoing around Wembley! What would your choice be? Let us know here.
  • You can also catch up on the latest nuTSAck podcast, and listen to Mike, Phill and Colin ramble on, or listen to the Official TSA Podcast here and listen to Kris, Lewis and Peter ramble on instead.

That’s all for this week, I hope you enjoyed it. See you next time!
