Community Round-Up: 05/11/11

I’m still slightly dazed from Teflon’s frying pan attack from last week, but I shall persevere to bring you this week’s Community Roundup! This coming week sees two of the biggest releases of this year; Modern Warfare 3 and Skyrim. Personally, I’ve been counting down the days until MW3 is released, as it’s my most anticipated game this year by far. As an Elder Scrolls virgin, I’m also really looking forward to Skyrim. Anyway, let’s take a look at what’s happened over the past week here on TSA!

There has been some epic competitions here on TSA this week. Fancy winning a shiny iPad 2? Of course you do, everyone does. Well, we’ve got the perfect opportunity to win you one as we’ve teamed up with the lovely people over at Gameloft. It’s incredibly easy to enter, via either Facebook or Twitter. All the instructions can be found on the announcement article.

I hope you all managed to enter the other great competitions we had this week. On Wednesday, we asked you to speculate what would be in the GTA V trailer, with Jakegoodie92 and TSBonyman making Peter giggle like a little school girl, and winning £10 Amazon credit each.

There was also the chance to win Uncharted 3, by telling us what your most treasured possession is. Hannes_Truce’s entry won him the game, but the Grimm and AdamGuest1985 both had great stories too and took home a £25 PSN voucher each.

Then was also had the winner from the Forza 4 and Speed Wheel comptition. The Community Team voted on all submissions, and came to a unaminous verdict; Scotty34 was declared the winner. You’ll need to head on over to the article if you want to see what his worthy entry actually was!

Last but not least, we have the write up of events in this week’s F1 2011 Championship. The racers visited Melbourne, Australia this week, so you might like to read up and see what happened. The races this week are going to be taking place in Monza, Italy. The first chicane is going to be… Interesting.

With all these brilliant games being release recently, what better way to enjoy them than in the company of some other TSAgents? Let’s take a look at what TSA Meets we’ve got taking place.

Tonight, at 7pm, Bodachi is hosting the first Uncharted 3 meet. Keep an eye out on the forum thread, full details will be posted there. Last week I got it wrong, and it’s on Sundays that Death_In_Flamez’s usual SARPBC meet takes place at 7pm.

Mondays Motorstorm Madness’ is hosted by theberzerka kicks off at 8pm on Monday night. I’m sure you’d all figured out it was on a Monday already, though.

Crazy_Del has a double whammy for Tuesday evening, reviving two games from earlier this year. First up, Mortal Kombat at 8PM,followed shortly after by Crysis 2 at 10PM.

That’s all there is so far, but I’m positive that there will be some MW3 and BF3 Meets this week, everyone seems to be talking about those two games! So you’ll want to join the TSA Platoon for BF3 action, and just check your friends list, come MW3’s release. There’s also a weekly Singularity meet each Friday, so if you fancy joining that, keep an eye out on that filtered search I linked to for the meet to go live.

And as always, feel free to host your own meet here, provided you have at least 250 TSA points.

Right, let’s take a look at some of the main Reviews and Previews shall we? Let’s kick things off with the Battlefield 3 Multiplayer review, and if you missed it, here’s the Single Player review. Next, it might actually be worthwhile brushing the dust off those PS Move controllers you have, as Dan gives and impressive score to the PSN game Hydrophobia Prophecy (with Move). Another game that might take you by surprise is Disney Universe. Although it may not be for everyone, certainly looks a lot of fun the younger generation. You can also read Jim’s Hands On with The Darkness II, and Tuffcub’s Hands On with Asura’s Wrath.

It’s not all reviews and hands on though, we also enjoy pointing at controversy, and yesterday saw a leaked video from Modern Warfare 3 with some rather polarising footage. Not wanting to spoil it, it has parallels to the “No Russian” mission from Modern Warfare 2. Tuffcub has brought out his Massive Poll for the occasion, so if you saw the video and have an opinion head over there and vote.

Looking at some of the other articles, Origami Killer featured in last week’s Meet the Reader, while Greg decieded to put Fallout 3 and New Vegas under the microscope in Tweak It. There’s also WeView Verdict for Sonic the Hedgehog, and you can let everyone know your thoughts in the forum for this week’s WeView, Singularity.

Remember when we brought you Playback: PlayStation Move Special Pt1? Well, you may begin the celebrations as Jim brings us Part 2 of the feature. In this week’s TSA Talks, Al decides he prefers rapping over talking. The team discuss GTA V, the launch issues with Batman and Battlefield 3, and finish off by talking about Nintendo’s financial losses.

Swan diving into the forums now, let’s see what’s been going on this week.

That’s all for this week. I can’t wait for next week, with both MW3 and Skyrim being released! Hopefully all of you will also have a great week of gaming. See you next time, bye!

  1. Woohoo! My forum thread got a mention! I’ve finally made it!

  2. It also has to be said that Tony’s GT5 Meet last week was a blast….when it was working. Hopefully another GT5 Meet will be on soon as the new cars & tracks are ace

    • If you get stuff created nice and early, it helps Gazza and me to find things to point to in the meets section and actually be able to link to the meets directly. Otherwise it tends to be vague, wishy-washy stuff.

Meets created by around dinner time of Friday should get picked up.

    • If you want to make sure something gets mentioned, easiest way is to send me a tweet (@gazzagb) on either thursday/friday and it’ll make sure to include it in. :)

      • Or threaten Tefazzgb with Justin Beiber. It worked for my DAO review. ;)

    • Ill put up a meet for the week after, get it up well in advance, get it in the community round up and maybe get a few more peeps there.

  3. There’s been some good comps and great prizes over the last week or so.

  4. Feel free to sign up Mortal Kombat and Crysis 2 meet ^^

    Thanks teflon ;)

  5. Thanks for the MTR mention :) Don’t know whether to do SARPBC or UC3 meet? so I’m going to do neither ;) Lots of comps this week too, congrats to all the winners

    • just realised it’s Saturday not Sunday which has got me confused with the meets. I blame Gazza’s mistake last week :P

  6. It seems that i’m the only one who does birthday threads for members. :-)

Anyway, i’m glad that a regular won UC3 instead of someone who just signed up in the hope of winning it and if they won it, never to be seen again. :)

    • your quite cruel when it comes to that. If it’s a funny comment and worthy of the win then I’m all for a new comer winning.:) even if they don’t show up again at least they have brought something new to the site once.

      • Agreed. Yes it’s nice that we have a fairly tight knit community, but I find the constant comments about hoping a regular wins to be a bit exclusionary towards new people and infrequent visitors. It’s that kind of thing that might actually dissuade someone from joining up and taking part in the forums.

      • yes. I also regret making a big deal on that El Shaddai comp, in which the user hasn’t returned mainly due to a few regulars including me over reacting. Something I’ve learnt from.
