Something For The Weekend – 17/02/18

Winter gaming.

With the Six Nations taking a rest this weekend, my attention has switched to the Winter Olympics. I (like most of the country), now consider myself an expert at curling, with Team GB’s women’s curlers progressing well.

Now, I’m just waiting for the announcement of Cool Runnings 2!

In the News This Week

Games in Review

Apart from Fe, it’s fair to say that this hasn’t been the best week for the reviews, despite some games that had some big hopes pinned on them.

Reviewed platform in bold.

This Week’s Features

While the reviews were a bit of a downer, the previews were far better with Tef having a busy week. He started by exploring ancient Egypt (while also learning a new thing or two) with the new Discovery Tour in Assassin’s Creed, as you can see in his video below. He also spoke to Maxime Durand, the Franchise Historian at Ubisoft Montreal, and threw in a quiz that Ade came up with.

Meanwhile, if Switch owners haven’t got around to playing Bayonetta yet, Tef reckons it’s almost essential for fans of the action game genre as the series has found its new home on the console.

Lastly, he had a look at Deep Rock Galactic, a dwarven mining game coming to PC and Xbox One later this month, and wrote about how Blizzard’s 4K Overwatch Patch for the Xbox One X has left the PS4 Pro far behind.

Elsewhere, Adrian had a look at some upcoming games that he reckons will help you “learn, discover and understand something about history, all whilst having a good time”.

Finally, What We Played featured Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Overwatch, Fe, and Monster Hunter: World.
