Something for the Weekend – 02/11/19

Well, I think it’s safe to say that the Rugby World Cup final isn’t playing out in the style that a lot of fans might have hoped or expected. After dominating the All Blacks, you might have expected England to run away from South Africa, but the first quarter (as I write this) has been much closer and bitty than ideal.

By the time you’re reading this, it will all have been decided one way or another. Will England turn on the flair? Or South Africa manage to grind them down?

Enough of sport, it’s also been pretty lively in the realms of video games this week. The reviews for Death Stranding dropped, with plenty of diverging opinions across the games press, we’ve had BlizzCon’s opening ceremony, and plenty more besides. So, let’s dive in!

In the News This Week

And now that we’re into November, how about those free games in online subscriptions?

Yeah, so Death Stranding has happened now. Don’t trust us? Well, we’ve got a handy Death Stranding review round up to scope out some other opinions.

This Week’s Features

Jim has been busily beavering away at our Call of Duty: Modern Warfare review. Before we can put a score on it, he asks if this is the best Call of Duty single player yet, and looks at the fresh, but punishing Modern Warfare multiplayer.

With the recent port, Dom was lured back to Overwatch on Nintendo Switch, saying it’s still one of the best games of all time. He also went hands on with Pacer, asking if it could be the anti-grav racer to finally steal WipEout’s crown.

I returned to my hands on time with Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order, finding seven ways it can surprise you.

Jim spoke with Nathan Whitehead about creating the music of Days Gone, while Nic looked at a very different kind of wasteland, taking in Fallout 76’s continuing debacle while considering the Fallout Legacy collection.

The latest Playing with History saw Ade speaking with the creators of the unique, medieval marginalia inspired Inkulinati.

Rounding out the week, What We Played featured Death Stranding, Destiny 2: Shadowkeep and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

It looks like it was a quiet week for the community:

  • tactical20 has played Luigi’s Mansion 3, calling it “another brilliant game on the Switch.”
