Formula 1 returns to Japan this weekend for the first time since 2019, with the World Drivers Championship again within reach for Max Verstappen. I’m personally hoping that he doesn’t clinch it this round as I’ll be headed to to the US and COTA for the next race, but we’ll see! Plus, I’m sure F1 fans are all eagerly awaiting the FIA’s announcement on the cost cap row.
Anyway, lets take a look at the gaming news this week, with everything from Need for Speed, to the reveal of Chris Pratt’s Mario voice.

Featured Articles
Thankfully it was a busier week for the featured articles. From the previews, survival management sim Stranded: Alien Dawn appears to be one to watch even in an increasingly crowded genre, thanks to its blend of both micro and macro management.
Then, Stefan clambered behind the wheel for a white-knuckle ride in WRC Generations – and also took a look at the journey the series has been under KT Racing’s stewardship – right back from 2015’s WRC 5 until this year’s final effort.
Staying with KT Racing, he tried to gleam as much information as possible from them about Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown. There’s a few morsels in there about how this unique open world racer is being put together.
And as always, What We Played finished the week by featuring Dakar Desert Rally, Marvel Snap & Overwatch 2.

Your Achievements
Here’s what you in our community have been up to this week:
- willbuchanan finally grabbed the platinum in AC Brotherhood, which was also his 150th! Following that milestone, he added platinums for Lego Batman 3, Lego Jurassic World and Lego The Hobbit to his collection, making good progress on his way to 200.
- hornet1990 has reached the end of Far Cry 5, but can’t decide between mopping up all the side quests or finishing the last mission.
- Andrewww has been trying to find some good games he can play with his son with some PS4-PS5 crossplay – many are a “unnecessarily violent for teens”. Absolver didn’t want to matchmake, Monster Hunter World had a boring opening, and so they ended up with Ghost Recon Wildlands just getting up to mischief. In solo play he’s grabbed the platinum trophy for Control – “An excellent, if totally nuts, game overall.”
- And MrYd played through the PS= games, generally having a good time, dove into the free games Deathverse and Century: Ash of Ages, and found that Overwatch 2 was “fun enough for free, I guess.” He’s also been playing a ton of Tropico 6 and managed to fully upgrade his arcade in Arcade Paradise.
