What We Played #574 – Bayonetta 3, Modern Warfare 2 & Marvel Snap

Bayonetta 3 Header

It’s been half term in our household, and that’s meant that everyone is playing games. Multiplayer-wise we’ve hopped on Gigabash, which remains a firm favourite, and I’ve been ploughing through the outrageously fun Bayonetta 3. If you’re picking it up today, enjoy! I’ve also embarked on New Tales From the Borderlands which I’ll have some thoughts on next week, and the same goes for Valkyrie Elysium which is an odd game, but one I think I’m enjoying.

Tuffcub has been playing Destiny 2. He’s now set an automatic response to this question in our Slack, which I feel is cheating a bit, but probably saving wear and tear on his keyboard’s D,E,S,T,I,N,Y and 2 keys.

COD Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Dark Waters

Nick P focused on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed for review! Then, of course, he played a ton of Overwatch 2, Dead by Daylight and Fortnite. And he’s still slowly working his way through the original Resident Evil. Quite the haul!

Gamoc has still only been playing Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous for review, which appears to have turned into an epic quest all to itself, and Aran has been playing Kena Bridge of Spirits. He says, “It looks great but it hasn’t quite grabbed me as I thought it would. I will finish it though. Also started Warhammer 40,000: Shootas, Blood & Teef for review.”

A Plague Tale Requiem Graphics Fidelity

Steve has been busy playing games and earning achievements in order to distract himself from his Covid recovery (hope you’re feeling much better Steve!). He started by rattling through A Plague Tale: Requiem. He says, “It’s pretty sweet – just the stealth achievement to unlock in a future playthrough”.

He followed on from this with the full 1000gs on the “excellent” Forgotten City – saying, “it has one of the best time-twisting mechanics this side of Majora’s Mask”. He’s also delved back into The Two Of Us with his eldest for some co-op fun and games. Along the way he also did all but the ‘play for 100 hours’ achievements in the Panzer Dragoon remake, and spent last weekend back in the world of Resident Evil: Village for the DLC. Finally, he updated his Quest 2 and assorted apps for the new Meta setup and he’s ready to get stuck into some spooky VR gaming. Which sounds terrifying.

Nic B has played Pokemon Go. While this is not surprising there is at least a bit of a twist, “Tis Halloween, which means ghosts! My favourite time of the year in-game, and I’m loving it.”

God of War Ragnarok Preview Combat

Jim has been gaming at two opposite ends of the spectrum this week. He tells us, “Once again, I’ve been treated to the satisfying whoosh that comes when recalling Kratos’s Leviathan Axe as I journey into the Nine Realms once more for God of War: Ragnarok. As outlined in our preview it’s left a solid first impression and I can’t wait to see how the story climaxes. Meanwhile, I’ve yet to pry Marvel Snap’s hooks from beneath my skin. It’s the most fun I’ve had with a card game since the original MTG: Duel of the Planeswalkers, thanks to its low effort, high strategy battles and deck-building.”

It was at this point that Aran and Nick P remembered that they’d also played Marvel Snap. This has lead to me downloading it, and I’m going to check it out over the weekend. I mostly trust these guys so I’m expecting to enjoy it!

marvel snap review

Miguel was a birthday boy this week – Happy Birthday! – and he’s also been on an indie tear this week, played Frog Detective 3, Potionomics, and the super terrifying Stay out of The House from Puppet Combo. He also played a bit of Splatoon 3, some Dragon Ball: The Breakers, and a little Fortnite.

Finally, we come to Tef (not Teef), who’s played some of the Modern Warfare 2 campaign (and will be diving into the multiplayer today), shared plenty of thoughts from going hands on with The Callisto Protocol, and carried on with a bit of Gotham Knights, though hasn’t really been grabbed by it.

So, enough about us, what have you folks played?

  1. I’ve been playing Skyrim on PS4 and multiplayer Kane and Lynch 2 on PS3.
This weekend I had planned on playing some more Skyrim and possibly some Doom multiplayer but my plans seem to be rapidly becoming fluid due to an unexpected job offer!

  2. I was away from my consoles down South, for the usual family holidays in autum in Italy, so there was not much gaming for me for the last two weeks, but I’m not complaining. However, I took my cute little Vita with me, so continued Zero Time Dilemma on it. Unfortunately, it’s not quite as good as the previous Virtue’s Last Reward, but it’s still ok and I’ll continue.
