As ever, our Wednesday’s wouldn’t be complete with a new batch of PlayStation Store content to spend all our money on, and this week’s no different, if only because we can get our pixelly hands on Scott Pilgrim. However, there’s also new DLC for Red Dead Redemption, a demo for Mafia II (see our hands on here) and some – yes – new PSP games. Dive in!

It’s a film based on a comic based on the life of a gamer child thing who has to defeat this girl’s 7 evil ex’s to win her love sort of thing. They also cast Scott Pilgrim terribly.

It is indeed, I saw a trailer of it when I went to see Inception last week.. Looks pretty cool, a tale of boy meets girl, who has 10 superhero ex-boyfriends, which he has to battle in order to win her heart. You know, the usual thing.. Made me think of Kick Ass meets Tekken.

ahhh I have seen a trailer for the film, but what, it’s also a game too? Interesting.

Lets face it, it’s a downloadable film tie-in.
Harks back to memories of playing through the Watchmen game demo, there’s 30 minutes of my life I’ll never get back.

The game is pretty cool, but I’m getting used to the controllers. It’s old skool 2D awesomeness :) At the very least it’s more than your average poorly-thought-out film tie-in

no idea what Scott Pilgrim is but every time I see the game title it makes me think of Peter Griffen “hey you pilgrims, happy thanksgiving pilgrims” ;)

I’m guessing Peter Griffin on his side can’t see the game title without thinking of John Wayne :)

It looks pretty crap. So in a move of shameless self-promotion I say download my custom South Park theme. It’s not dynamic, but it’s free ;)

aye I agree, it is pretty rubbish, I would go far as to say quite annoying in fact the way the whole screen changes every 10 seconds.

Scott Pilgrim is a series of comic books which reference video game culture very heavily. The first movie adaptation is coming out next week and this is the game of that movie.
It looks like an old-school side-scroller with a great sense of humour. Worth a go on the trial, for sure.

I can’t wait to see the movie but I’ve not read the comics. I’d probably enjoy them a lot.

Played the Scott Pilgrim demo off the US store last night and I loved it. It’s kinda like a cartoony streets of rage with a levelling up system. Some may be put off by the retro graphics though. On another note the film is directed by none other than Edgar Wright, the genius behind Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and the TV series Spaced. Basically, it can’t not be amazing

really? thats the nuts, I love Spaced and the others. Hot Fuzzz is a bit meh though.

He only wrote Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead though.
A bad director can ruin a film but it’s hard for a good one to turn a bad film/script into a good one.

Well, what a load of old cobblers this week. Bands for the Rock Band/Guitar Hero I’ve never heard of (nothing new there!) and just about zero of all the rest interesting me in any way at all.
My PSN account will be untroubled for another week.
Can’t wait for the forthcoming Split/Second DLC, though!

Madden NFL 11 (£23.99/€29.99)
Good to see EA sorted out they’re pricing. It’s only taken about a year. Hopefully Fifa 11 will be priced the same way.
