EA continues to reassure veterans of the PS2 SSX era with these new images. Not only do they bring back a fan favourite, Elise, they show some colour and the insane trick abilities of the riders.
Call me a hopeless nostalgist if you like but the colourful hues and twisted, icy caverns in these images really do bring back memories of SSX (Tricky was my favourite) and the feeling of unbound joy that the series used to be capable of.
SSX doesn’t have a release date yet but it is in development for PS3 and Xbox 360. It can’t come soon enough as far as I’m concerned.

For me it was SSX 3, but probably for the reason that I played that first (and never Tricky). It was one of the few and maybe only games that I never got tired of. If I wanted to chill out I’d drop on top of the mountain and mindlessly ride down it. If I wanted a quick buzz I’d hit an event.
I mentioned it before, and I’ll say it again though, the thing I am most looking forward to is the full on, free roam, no out of bounds BS that they promise in this one. Sure I can imagine that certain sections might be funnelled using high walls, but nothing annoyed me more than getting reset after finding an interesting off road bit.
Oh, I also didn’t mind DJ Atomika (or whoever he was in SSX), and loved the music.

Yes, just yes.
