I’ve just flicked through these images before posting them. Every gamer who’s been enjoying the hobby for an extended period of time will be familiar with my reaction: I’ve had to do a bit of a double take and then move my face closer to my laptop screen and squint at these images to make sure Codemasters aren’t sending photos from Spa last weekend and preparing to have a giggle at my expense.
Of course, I’m old enough and jaded enough to remember a similar reaction when I saw the first screenshots of Gran Turismo on the PlayStation. So, I know that the realism on show in these photos screenshots will most likely be improved upon even more in the coming years. But for now, they’re close enough to make me look twice.
We’ll be back soon with some proper impressions of how the game actually plays but in the meantime, enjoy these screens.
They’re pretty incredible.

Yes you can count me in I missed the F1 2010 competition (even though I’d lose) But it’s fun and entertaning to participate in the F1 Meets such a blast especially the clean races with TSA!

Hey I thought I’d lose too but I somehow made it to the Final 12. Strange things can happen

These screens will be from the PC version and yes it does look almost real, I still play 2010 on my PC and with graphics on Ultra with 8x AA its simply beautiful, cant wait for this years addition! Got my Fanatec GT2 warmed up ready!! Bring it on
SpikeyMikey23
I never got around to trying F1 2010 with the driving force GT i bought for GT5, so im looking forward to trying this with a wheel
nemesisND1derboy
They must be PC screens, but even still… damn!

I find it amusing how they’ve applied motion blur to the sides of the wheels, but not the actual tread of the wet tyres.
bacon_nuts
I don’t think so? the inner bit looks the same, it’s just a coloured band on the side, not a blur of anything, isn’t it?
TROPtastic
Well, I thought that there are brand names usually placed on the sides of the tires in F1, but someone please correct me if I’m wrong.

Another drain on my resources! Thank god i have some vouchers!

The graphics look great. Reminds me of MLB The Show. My dad walked in on me playing it and was wondering why I was sitting infront of my TV watching a Baseball game with a PS3 controller in my hand. Maybe I can trick him with F1. “Oh yeah, they rescheduled the race from Sunday to today…”
Sympozium
I’m really considering getting this both on the pc and the PS3 in the future, along with PES 12… lol

the tracks are too clean in the dry pictures.
there’s usually a lot of tiny bits of rubber on the track off the racing line that builds up over the course of the race.
i think that’s why the wet pictures look more realistic, it matches what you’d see in real life better than the too clean dry track.
and the mist effect helps a bit as well. ^_^

Looks great. Gotta save some pennies for the 23rd.
