Something for the Weekend – 15/10/22

Scorn Header

We’re right at the start of what’s set to be an unrelenting charge of game releases through to the end of the year. Next week in particular is going to be heckin’ busy with Mario + Rabbids, A Plague Tale: Requiem, Gotham Knights, and more.

But that’s getting ahead of ourselves, isn’t it? Here’s the last week’s worth of gaming news, reviews and previews.

In the News This Week

Games in Review

It was a quiet week for the reviews, with a trio of titles under the microscope. Next week’s looking to be significantly busier, so buckle up!

There were some great previews this week, with one of the real highlights being Bayonetta 3. Dom went hands on with the long-awaited PlatinumGames title, and found that it’s just as bombastic as you could want with huge demon summons and a new character to play as.

Last weekend’s Street Fighter 6 Closed Beta got our juices flowing, with Aran, Reuben and Nick P giving us three contrasting perspectives from a rookie, a casual and an expert view on the game.

Dom also played more of Evil West for our final preview, sampling a second level of the over the top action game. And Nic B got to go hands on with Wild Hearts, the big new take on the monster hunting genre from Omega Force, blending in a bunch of intriguing new ideas.

And finally, What We Played featured Lego Bricktales, Street Fighter 6 and Bayonetta 3.

Your Achievements

Here’s what you in our community have been up to this week:

  • TSBonyman bought and jumped into Dishonored 2 and the standalone Death of the Outsider followup, finding a new game to sink his teeth into after a bit of Fallout 4 and Stanley Parable
  • hornet1990 decided to finish off Far Cry 5 and got the canonical ending – “apparently the clues were there but easily missed which is just a massive failure of the story telling” – now he’s on the hunt for another game to play, because the collectibles grind isn’t really doing it.

Enjoy your weekend and I’ll see you again soon!
