Community Round-Up: 07/09/13

It seems the autumn releases kicked off in style this week! I’ll be playing plenty of Rome 2 this weekend, whilst I know others will be diving into the likes of Killzone: Mercenary or Diablo 3. TSA also seems to have stepped up a gear, with loads of Reviews and Previews, along with great features, all of which we’ll cover now in this week’s Community Round-Up!

Earlier we gave you the chance to win a pair of tickets to this year’s Eurogamer Expo. It was a close finish, but in the end the tough decision led to DANTHEBOSSMAN winning with his Rupert Murdoch and Watch_Dogs pairing, so congratulations to him. Check out the article to see his entry and other notable suggestions.

It’s great to see that the Meets are showing signs of life again! We kick things off with Kamokazi-UK who’s looking for some people to play Diablo 3 with his meet is at Sunday at 5pm.

On Monday, Youles has his DiRT 3 Cat n Mouse Meet and Germanos taking to the skies in his Ace Combat: Assault Horizon meet, both of which start at 8pm.

On Tuesday, Motalla hosts the usual DiRT meet at 7pm and is also hosting the regular Friday night Battlefield 3 meet at 9pm.

I’m also trying to set up a Battlefield 3 Meet for PC, if you’re interested pop what times are good for you in this thread here and we’ll hopefully get some games going.

And remember, you can always add your own Meet to the list, providing you’ve got more than 250 TSA Points.

Also very busy this week was the Reviews and Previews. Let’s begin with Teflon (with the help of Adam), who gave Total War: Rome 2, a game which I’ve been enjoying this week, an 8/10.

This week Aran gave Castle of Illusion a 7/10, before hopping onto his combine harvester for Farming Simulator 2013, which received a disappointing 5/10. If you were looking forward to some tractor-ing, then I’d recommend you take a look at the PC version which I’ve enjoyed playing quite a bit.

Jim gave Lost Planet 3 at 6/10, and Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends Of The Titan for 3DS a 7/10, while for Mobile Watch, he played Puzzle Trooper and Sheep Happens. Blair continued the handheld theme with Killzone: Mercenary, which he gave a fantastic 10/10 and summed up by saying, “This isn’t just a game you need to buy if you own a Vita, this is the game you buy a Vita for.”

Rounding off the reviews, DanToo gave Real Boxing, another Vita game, an 8/10, while Teflon gave the PC point-and-click game Memoria, 7/10.

And now to the Previews, and your regular dose of Teflon, who’s been busy as usual. He began with a video hands-on of the 2DS, and gave a good demonstration of how the console compared to it’s older brothers. Following that, he had a double-dose of Max, first looking at Max: The Curse of  Brotherhood, and then Mad Max.

After giving EA’s Free-2-Play version of Command and Conquer a try, he tried out tablet-controlled drones for the highly anticipated The Division. Finally, he talked to Ananda Gupta at Gamescom, the Lead Designer on XCOM: Enemy Within, about the game and also went hands on with the PS4 version of Blacklight: Retribution. Blair stepped in with his thoughts on the NFC figure craze and Pokémon Rumble U.

The Chronicle returned last week, and featured A Inferior Race’s gaming rig. Resident Evil 6 wasn’t very well received in it’s WeView Verdict, with two Bargain Bin It votes coming out on top, as Injustice Gods Among Us jumps into the hot seat as the next game for you to comment and vote on.

Papers, Please was the centre of attention in Gamoc’s Indie Focus, while Thomas Was Alone was the game under Aran’s microscope in this week’s Matter of Perspective. Seeing as Killzone Mercenary was released this week, it was fitting that Teflon revisited Killzone: Liberation in Playback. Sunday Spotlight looked at Pixel Press, a tool that allows you to create your own game by doing all the hard stuff for you, which looks great for anyone who has an interest in games and has an artistic side to them.

Bringing an end to the articles, there’s What We Played #121 from Greg and Newsdesk Episode #11 from Josh. Episode 111 of the podcast may have been lacking some organisation seeing as both Kris and Kev were away, but that didn’t stop Peter, Lewis and Teflon having a good laugh and discussion.

Time to head on into the Forums now, and see what’s been going on this past week!

  • Bigchrissyc has a great thread asking what has been the most disappointing game of this generation?
  • He’s also asking about how PS3-PS4 game upgrades will work, no-one is quite sure, by the looks of things!
  • UKZ-N3M1515 has a thread for people to share their Steam and Origin ID’s, in the hope to get more PC Meets going.
  • Raen (aka Kris) wants to know if anyone else on TSA is enjoying the cricket as much as him?

And that brings us to a close, for this week at least. I’ll see you next time, bye!

  1. Lovely round-up, fella. Enjoy Total Rome. :-) I’ll be hammering Payday 2 some more.

    • How good is it? I’ve seen much more interest in 2 than the first one. I bought the first one but I thought it was underwhelming to say the least.

  2. The steam group could do with an update.

    • Yeah, I’m not sure who’s the Admin of it, maybe I’ll try to find out and do something about it!
