Something For The Weekend – 24/06/17

I welcome the overcast conditions and milder temperatures we’re expected to get this weekend after a blisteringly hot week. The half of my commute missing air conditioning is unbearable, and I’m pretty sure my computer’s graphics card is running hotter than the surface of the sun!

Anyway, enough of me ranting about the weather, let’s take a look over the past seven days on TSA!

In the News This Week

Competition Time

That’s right, we’ve got a giveaway running this weekend with seven winners getting premium Marvel Heroes Omega content worth up to £160! Head here for details and how to enter.

Games in Review

Not the strongest scores this week, but that doesn’t mean they’re not worth checking out by any means, with Housemarque’s Nex Machina more than worthy of your time.

This Week’s Features

Alongside our giveaway, you can also read Jim’s thoughts on the Marvel Heroes Omega, as he think it’s the almost perfect F2P console game.

In the sole preview of the week, Stefan had a look at Aporia: Beyond The ValleyDanish developer, Investigate North have been pushing the boundaries of storytelling here, comparable to Journey.

Elsewhere, Tef asked why racing game career modes don’t make you feel more like a champion, comparing it to other sports games such as FIFA or NBA. And to finish, Jim explained why he thought Paladins is a ‘damn good’ F2P game, even if it isn’t quite Overwatch.

Lastly, What We Played featured Breath Of The Wild, For Honor & Yakuza 0.

Your Achievements

It looks like most of our trophy hunters have enjoying the glorious weather (which I made my thoughts on perfectly clear earlier!), so there’s not much for the achievements.

That said, Steelhead completed Life is Strange, and bagged the Platinum trophy after collecting all those pesky photos.

  1. How hot has it actually been?

I’d like to get Elite: Dangerous this week but I think I’ll wait, Witcher 3 has been occupying my gaming time anyway and that’s with Horizon, Mass Effect, Nioh, Dirt 4, Persona 5 and others waiting in the backlog.

    • I think it reached 34*C on Wednesday, it was unbearable!

      • Amen to that, thank god that the heatwave subsided. I think that I managed around 4 hours sleep during the worst 3 days of last week :(

There was no way I was switching on the PS4 just to listen to an aircraft turbine simulation before it became a barbecued spit roast!

Between 18-20°C forecast for the next week and a half, so happy days ;)

      • That’s pretty up there. I couldn’t stand the heat when I first moved to Florida (not to mention a house AND car with no A/C for the first 18 months) but it’s not something I really think about anymore, just try to stay out of the sun too much. 93°f/34°c today.

      • I bet the humidity is a lot worse in Florida too!

      • Yeah, the heat index can be bad. You can even feel it while breathing, the air is thick. Hydration is key!
