Something For The Weekend – 24/03/18

It’s lights out Down Under, as the F1 season gets underway at the Australian Grand Prix. If you’ve not watched the qualifying for this morning, I won’t spoil it for you – highlights are at 1PM on Channel 4 – but here’s hoping for some awesome racing tomorrow and some good results for the boys in orange and blue!

Oh, and don’t forget that the clocks go forward tonight. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you’ll have one hour less sleep tonight…

Time to check out the reviews, and will you be picking any of these up?

This Week’s Features

Kicking off the features, and it’s been all Tef all the time. He started off with a look at Onrush. Now, if you were expecting a Motorstorm-esque game from the folks who used to be known as Evolution Studios, you’re in for a surprise as you can find out in Tef’s video:

He also spoke to the Game Director, who many will know as Rushy about what to expect from “a team-based racer that’s all about racking up points and pushing for objectives while racing in close proximity”.

He also visited the team behind World of Tanks, who have just launched version 1.0. After initially releasing 8 years ago, the game engine has been entirely rebuilt, offering much improved graphics and an overhaul that makes it feel like an entirely new game. You can’t quite say the same thing for Assassin’s Creed Rogue Remastered though, which Gamoc played

Earlier this week, the all-conquering Fortnite Battle Royale began its iOS rollout. If you haven’t managed to get an invite yet, or have to wait another few months for the Android release, you can read Tef’s impressions to tide you over. Speaking of tides, he also opined that Sea of Thieves is the Seinfeld of video games.

God of War has been missing from our consoles for a long time now, but it sounds like the wait will be worth it when Kratos returns. If you were worried that fatherhood has turned our favourite Spartan soft, think again:

Ade followed up with this month’s Playing with History, which delved into who he thinks Kratos is going to be fighting from Norse mythology, and how he thinks they’re going to get killed.

Fresh from his trip to San Fran for GDC, Dom shared the first of many previews, as he delved into Dragon Ball Legends, which is a fighting game you can play with just one finger and has some surprising technical innovations for latency free online battling.

Last up, we had the usual What We Played, which featured Far Cry 5, Sea of Thieves and GRiP.

Your Achievements

Let’s check in with the community this week:

  • Crazy_Del nabbed his 350th platinum with Burnout Paradise Remastered, and now he’s got Far Cry 5 early, so he’ll be playing that all weekend!
  • Eldave0 has decided to sell his PS4, because he’s simply not playing it. Instead the Switch has filled his gaming void, with Pokken Tournament DX, ARMS, Kirby Star Allies and so much more. He did boot up his old 360 copy of Burnout Paradise though.
  • It’s been a lot of Nioh for MrYd, who keeps dying but hasn’t been annoyed by it as much as he was by Bloodborne. He’s alo not happy that the crates now feel completely pointless in Star Wars Battlefront II.
  • Andrewww has figured out that you can just run past most enemies in Bloodborne.
  • Tony Cawley has reached a point that he can’t be bothered to keep playing past in Bloodborne, so he tried playing Destiny 2 again, but found nothing to keep him interested. Instead he played Battlefield 1 and Fortnite’s co-op.
  • It’s been grabbing a quick platinum in Lara Croft Go on PS4 and delving into AC Rogue for JR., who thinks the series should return to that style of gameplay.
  • We can all be envious of tactical20, who’s off to Jamaica for a few weeks!

If you want to be included in this section, make sure to comment on What We Played of a Friday evening.

The Week Ahead

After last week’s action packed line up, this week looks very subdued:

  • Far Cry 5 – PS4, XBO, PC – 27/03
  • Outlast – Switch – 27/03
  • MLB The Show 18 – PS4 – 27/03
  • Batman: The Enemy Within – Episode 5 – Everything – 27/03

Don’t forget the clocks change tomorrow and we’ll catch you next week!

  1. I think Del was at the 350 mark. Probably 352 now ;)

    • I’m just bitter because I’ve only got 4 plats! :P

      • I have one and it was the very troublesome Telltale Batman game. :D

      • xD just a small mistake hehe

      • To exonerate Gaz, that was actually me adding in the “Your Achievements” bit. So, oops!

  2. Not to be a fan boy of Crazy_del but he nabbed his 250th platinum almost 2 years ago think that’s his 350th…

Anyway, been super busy this week I hadn’t posted that I got myself the Arizona Sunshine Platinum after a troublism 4 hours straight trophy!

Congrats to everyone else on your achievements! Tony how is Bloodborne? I have been putting it off ever since I had to sacrifice a young lamb to complete Dark Soul(!)
