Something For The Weekend – 27/01/18

On the hunt.

This week had the first big release of the year with Monster Hunter: World. I know a lot of people that have been patiently waiting for the handheld experience to finally transition to the current gen consoles. For anyone who picked up the game this week, has it been worth the wait? Dom was certainly full of praise in his review!

In the News This Week

Games in Review

It’s been a pretty busy past seven days for the reviews. We also get our first 10/10 of 2018!

This Week’s Features

Continuing the reviews, we had a couple this week that didn’t quite make it to completion. Aran, who has been looking at EA UFC 3, says it’s “shaping up to be a good improvement for the series”, while for Dragon Ball Fighterz, Dom says “as far as what I’ve experienced so far goes, I’ve definitely had a lot of fun”. Keep your eyes peeled this week for their full review and scores!

This week Tef dove into the Sea of Thieves closed beta to see how the game is shaping up. There’s going to be tight competition between this and the similarly seafaring Ubisoft’s Skull and Bones, even though the tone of each games is quite different. He also got his hands on the Shadow of the Colossus Remake, and provided us with some glorious footage from the game.

Elsewhere, Dave was impressed by Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, and says that it’s worth giving the game a second chance. The mostly free update provides the “incentive for both new and older players to get into Capcom’s marquee fighting game”.

Finally, What We Played featured Dragon Ball FighterZ, Monster Hunter: World and UFC 3.

I missed that Sky video in the week, it looks stunning for a mobile game, I can imagine impulsively spending too much on that.
I got my PS3 down from the loft today, Red Dead Redemption is ready to go. I like going back a generation every now and then, it’s a nice reminder about how good games managed to look so many years ago and how stunning they can be now. Before that though I’m a few thousand XP off level 25 on Battlefront 2, must get that done first!

I’m helping Cam with RDR MP trophies and don’t know if you wish to join? Wasn’t sure if you are going to stick with RDR campaign.
Just throwing that out there. We played Killzone 2 MP and it gave me a trip down the memory lane….. ahhhh those were the days

Thanks for the offer Del! I’m going to enjoy the story first but if I get into the multi player I’ll give you a shout!
Last night I managed to get 5 Vanguard triple kills in Battlefront 2, that was a stressful evenings Storm Trooping and I could barely get 2 kills before. It’s many months off but I’m on my way to the platinum now, whoop!
