Something For The Weekend – 19/01/19

Wrap up warm.

It feels like the weather took a turn this week, as temperatures plummeted towards the lower end of the thermometer. On the bright side, that means it’s the perfect excuse to wrap up warm and get some decent gaming in this weekend!

In the News This Week

If you weren’t paying attention at the start of the week, you’ll have missed out on the opportunity to get one of 25 copies of Octahedron for PlayStation 4. The winners have now been announced and contacted via email, so make sure to check the original post to see if you’re name is on the list and keep an eye on your emails (and spam box!)

Games in Review

I think it was one of the busiest weeks we’ve had for the reviews, partly due to Dr Steve’s Game Clinic featuring six games and TSA’s new comic reviews!

  • Super Hydorah – PS4, PS Vita, XO, PC, Switch
  • Super Pixel Racers -PS4, XBO

This Week’s Features

For the previews, we started the week with a look at that Resident Evil 2 1-shot demoSteve was hooked, saying “I just want to be able to play the whole game, damn it!”, while Nick was similarly full of praise for Mortal Kombat 11 after going hands on at the gameplay reveal this week.

Elsewhere, Tef took the time to visit the Caspian desert in Metro: Exodus, saying the open world design is the perfect change for the series, while for the Second Episode of Life is Strange 2, he says that the suspense is starting to build and he can’t wait for the next episode. He also returned to the excellent puzzle platforming of Octahedron, now that it’s come to Nintendo Switch.

Last up, Adrian delved into the Greek mythology behind Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, while What We Played featured Resident Evil 2, Destiny 2 & Mortal Kombat 11.

Your Achievements

Time to see what the community have been playing this week:

  • tactical20 has got to a ‘stupidly’ difficult bit of Mario Bros U Deluxe.
  • MrYd finished Episode 3 of The Walking Dead, polished off a bit more of Odyssey, and of course, lot’s of Firewall.
  • Crazy_Del had a busy week getting up to 97.5% completion for RDR2, and hopes to bag the plat for that and Firewall this weekend.
  • TSBonyman’s PSVR got plenty of use this week with The Persistence, Ultrawings, and Kona making appearances.
  • Just Cause 4, and AC Odyssey’s DLC were what kept JR. busy this week, although he found the uproar surrounding the later disappointing.
  • Andrewww broke out the PSVR again with the kids to play Moss, and also found time to finish HZD.
  • Eldave0 called the Resident Evil 2 demo “amazing”, Resident Evil 7 “still amazing”, and the Resident Evil 2 board game “super amazing”. I get the impression he’s a bit of a Resident Evil fan!
