Half-way there. With fifty down and fifty more to go, we thought we’d take a step-back from unveiling the latest in our countdown to awesomeness and quickly recap the fifty games we’ve already discussed (usually at length) as part of our Top 100 Games of 2011 series.
Maybe you missed a few. Or perhaps you want to see what the fifty look like in a descending order of enlightenment, allowing you to get a feel for how one title faired against another. Or maybe you completely neglected to catch the hidden mouse-over text that accompanies each entry. (Note: most of these quips only make sense when viewed with the image in question, so check them out for the complete gag.) Whatever the reason, here’s #100 through to #50.
Some stellar titles in here folks, which can only mean one thing – wait until you see the next fifty.
100 – Dissidia Duodecim: Final Fantasy – “Mmm, tripe.”

Grey_Ghost13
Halfway there guys, keep up the good work. Looking forward to the rest of the list.
samiro05
I’m only looking forward to Final Fantasy XIV and Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One from this list but as I read it again I guess I could be also interested in the Green Lantern game :)
The top 50 should show some crackers :)
Aquastyle
A good list so far, complete with quite a few surprises. Out of these fifty, Ni No Kuni and Final Fantasy Versus XIII are the ones I’m the most hyped for.
Keep ut the good work! :)
billsmugs
I hope I’m not the only person who just opened all those links and went through the mouse-over jokes! :)
Charmed_Fanatic
“Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One – Ratchet regretted asking Rhianna along” i dont get it?
Charmed_Fanatic
Is nefarious meant to be Rihanna?
Kovacs
Yes.
Charmed_Fanatic
haha ok i would of gone with Amy Winehouse
Kovacs
Amy Winehouse has massive hair but Rhianna has a massive head!
:)
(Sorry Rhianna. You’re still cute.)
Crazy_Del

Great read and most games I’ll be getting lol.
Also No. 83 and 66 is that the same thing o_0 did you guys forgot that you already had that one covered lol.
Aquastyle
It’s two different games, one made by the Tekken team and one made by the SF team ;)
Raen
Exactly what I was going to say. Street Fighter x Tekken is made by Capcom, Tekken x Street Fighter is made by Namco.
Kovacs
You could have just clicked on both links and CHECKED before commenting, you know? It would have actually been quicker.
Crazy_Del
Sorry Raen and Kovacs but I….. *sits in the corner*
Thanks Aquastyle.
Aquastyle
Don’t worry. I’m still here.
Kovacs
That’s okay. We’re not infallible and make mistakes like everyone else. But before pointing out our mistakes, it would be AWESOME if people looked into the potential error first.
:)

I loved last years list but the current fifty listed above leaves me quite uninterested with a majority of the titles. Fingers crossed for a killer top 50 in comparison. I appreciate my tastes are highly subjective so there’s nothing wrong with the list, per se, just not much on there for me.
However, a stunning undertaking once more, Lee. Keep up the awesome work.
KeRaSh
I’m the same. There are maybe 5 titles in the list so far that I’d actually consider buying. I guess GT5 will be further up the list, eh? ;)
Kovacs
GT5 is out tomorrow hence it doesn’t qualify to be on the list.
:)
KeRaSh
I was being sarcastic but I guess the fun is gone since some people already have their copy… :P
Sympozium
Oh it must be under 50…
TSBonyman
There’s about 10 games there that i’m interested in to some degree but i’m expecting to want more of the next 50!
Kovacs
From about 35 on it gets SILLY. Literally.

I’ll be honest, I much prefer this presentation. I think these posts take too much space on the front page and distract from recent news. But whatever, no big deal.
As is always the case with such tops, I don’t agree with some places (Witcher 2, Hitman 5, BGE 2 trailing behind Captain America for instance). It’s always bound to unnerve many in fact, especially with such a long list. It would have been easier to name them without order. Perhaps less compelling ? Anyway, it can’t be said you shy away from difficulty or controversy with your opinion ^^.
And your list is great for pointing out games that may otherwise fly under the radar.
Kovacs
A fair point but do note: TSA is not a 100% news site. We’re probably split about 50/50 between news and features. There is a DAILY feature on TSA already so it’s not like this is anything bucking the norm. Come December this series will drop to one post a day.
Finally, trust me, it would have been a LOT harder without order. There were HUNDREDS of games voted on. Who’s to say what gets covered and what doesn’t? The best way was to vote. I’m not writing articles on a game that exists but absolutely NO ONE gives two hoots about. Trust me, you would have liked that method a lot less.
:)

I do know that TSA is not only a news site. It’s just my main (totally subjective) reason for coming. But as I said, no big deal.
For the vote, I totally agree that it as the way to go to decide which games made the cut, but I do think that the order is not really meaningful for the 100-50 games (I don’t know your methodology but I doubt you would agree that True Crime is more expected or likely to be good than Witcher 2, Diablo 3, or Crysis 2). I don’t know what to get out of this. It was probably the best way to come up with 100 names, but I don’t think the actual ranking holds much value.
Kovacs
The numbers don’t lie. True Crime is higher because it’s, collectively, wanted more among the team. If you take ten people and get them all to rate hundreds of games, I guarantee you’ll see sone surprises!
:)
