Something for the Weekend – 07/09/19

I’ve got so many games to play and catch up on right now that I’m just a bit flummoxed at what I can play this weekend. Do I give the new PvZ a crack? Maybe turn the Xbox on for Gears 5? Clear up some of the back catalogue? It’s a problem that’s really going to get much, much worse over the next few months…

This Week’s Features

There’s been a lot of fuss over MMO’s in the last few weeks, in an unexpected retro revival of sorts. Jim was our man out farming for XP, as he revisited DC Universe Online on Nintendo Switch, before becoming enchanted once more by World of Warcraft Classic.

He continued his nostalgia trips with one last step onto the multiplayer servers of Uncharted 2, as Sony shut down what he called PlayStation’s greatest multiplayer game.

I continued my post-Gamescom coverage with the amazing adventures of Strong Cloud the Vampire, previewingVampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. I also had a gander at the action roguelite farming genre mash-up of Atomicrops.

And there was the announcement of Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville, which could more than happily be called Garden Warfare 3.

Finally, we branded Control as our Game of the Month for August, and What We Played featured Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, Gears 5 & WoW Classic.

Your Achievements

Heading over to the community, and here’s what you’ve been up to:

  • Crazy_Del mostly played Wreckfest this week, turning up to a TSA Monday meet for the first time in a while. It’s left him two trophies away from his 400th platinum trophy!
  • And Gernboes were on holiday with plenty of time for gaming. So he played Okami, finished Rebel Galaxy, grabbed the last few online trophies for Driveclub and Driveclub Bikes, so he can wrap up the platinum trophies at some point, raced through Drowning, North and Stormboy for a couple of other platinums, and then played even more games beyond that!

As we get deeper into September, next week is another really big one. You’ve got the footie, the proper release of Gears 5, the highly anticipated Borderlands 3 and even some mech battling for Switch owners!
